Leadership under pressure
Fourteen years of British Army service underpin Matt’s experience in team leadership, operational planning and decision-making in demanding environments.

ABOUT QUANTUM BASTION
Independent security and risk consultancy.
Built around the people and operations we protect.
WHO WE ARE
Quantum Bastion helps clients understand risk and make confident security decisions.
We work with private individuals, families, family offices and organisations whose requirements demand discretion, sound judgement and a clear understanding of their environment.
Our work brings together security consultancy, protective planning, intelligence analysis, health and safety, and organisational resilience. Each engagement begins with your circumstances: the people, places, activities and priorities that matter to you.
We translate that understanding into proportionate recommendations, practical plans and clear priorities for action.
OUR FOUNDER
Founder · Quantum Bastion
“Understand the threat.
Identify the vulnerability.
Manage the risk.”
Over 20 years of security experience across military, private-client and corporate environments.
A former British Army Sergeant, Matt served for 14 years in demanding operational environments, developing the leadership, planning and decision-making skills that underpin his approach today.
His subsequent work spans security management, executive and close protection, Royal and UHNW family security, residential protection and corporate security consultancy in the UK and internationally, with extensive experience in the Middle East.
Matt was headhunted to serve as a Close Protection Officer and Security Advisor to a member of the Saudi Arabian Royal Family. This experience reinforced his understanding of the discretion, trust and attention to detail required when working with principals, private families and their representatives.
Matt has also worked for the police as a firearms expert witness and worked closely with the National Ballistics Intelligence Service (NABIS). This experience adds a specialist firearms and investigative perspective to his wider security background.
His experience also includes the oil sector, security team leadership, threat and risk assessments, protective surveillance, international travel planning, emergency arrangements and crisis response.
Moving from military service into private and corporate security brought a different set of priorities: protecting a family’s freedom and privacy, supporting an executive’s schedule and maintaining business operations. Matt’s approach reflects those demands, balancing protective measures with the practical realities of the client’s life and work.
Across these roles, his responsibilities have included leading security teams, developing operating procedures, overseeing physical and technical security, and preparing emergency and evacuation arrangements. This experience connects strategic advice with an understanding of how plans are delivered by people on the ground.
Matt combines this operational background with a considered consultancy approach: listen carefully, assess the wider context and develop measures that fit the client’s needs.
EXPERIENCE ACROSS ENVIRONMENTS
Our founder’s background spans environments where trust, preparedness and sound decisions are essential.
Fourteen years of British Army service underpin Matt’s experience in team leadership, operational planning and decision-making in demanding environments.
Experience supporting Royal and UHNW clients brings an understanding of personal privacy, family routines, trusted relationships and unobtrusive protective arrangements.
Residential security experience considers the property, people, technology and procedures together, including access control, CCTV, alarms and emergency arrangements.
Security management and advisory work in corporate and oil-sector environments informs an approach that connects personnel protection, site security and operational priorities.
UK and Middle East experience, executive protection and international travel planning support an understanding of changing threat environments and the practical demands of movement.
Experience in contingency planning, evacuation arrangements and crisis response reinforces the importance of clear responsibilities, workable procedures and coordinated decisions.
THE WIDER CONSULTANCY
Security, safety and resilience work best when considered together.
A concern at a residence may involve access arrangements, staff procedures and travel. A risk to a business may affect employee safety, critical assets, information and continuity at the same time. We consider these connections when developing advice.
Quantum Bastion brings together security strategy, threat assessment, intelligence analysis, protective planning, health and safety consultancy, and business continuity. The scope of each engagement follows the client’s needs, with clearly defined priorities and practical recommendations.
Our NEBOSH-qualified consultants contribute occupational health and safety expertise, including experience in onshore and offshore energy infrastructure. This complements our security and operational risk work, helping organisations consider hazards, vulnerabilities and resilience within a coherent approach.
For private clients, that means protection shaped around family life and privacy. For organisations, it means advice that supports leadership decisions, staff preparedness and the continuity of essential activities.
